SADCO celebrates its 20th Anniversary in 2004

SADCO celebrates its 20th anniversary in 2004! Hard to believe, ah? SADCO has been around in Indianapolis area for twenty years. Yes, twenty years. Sociedad Amigos de Colombia, SADCO, was funded in 1984 in Indianapolis by Bill Hardy and the following members of the first Board of Directors, Lucy Romero, Clara Hernández, Alicia García, Dorothy Serrano, Bertha Torres and Clara Urrea. Since its inception SADCO members have been very active in promoting Colombian and Hispanic culture through artistic and cultural presentations, and lectures. Education is a first priority for SADCO. SADCO has given more than $25,000 in scholarships to Hispanic students based on achievement and merit. SADCO has established itself as a very organized, high-quality Hispanic organization that works for the betterment of our community through voluntary work.

All SADCO events in 2004 will be held under SADCO’s Twentieth Anniversary Celebration. Culture, music, art, parties, aid, more scholarships, all of these will be part of SADCO's year-long celebration during 2004. We invite you to join us in this commemoration by attending and sharing your presence, time, and talent in all our events. Thanks
Cordially,

Fernando Otero, President

SADCO delivers gifts to displaced children in Colombia

Children in a depressed zone of Cali, Colombia, show off their presents sent by SADCO children Children in a depressed zone of Cali, Colombia, show off their presents sent by SADCO children

  • Children in a depressed zone of Cali, Colombia, show off their presents sent by SADCO children. For some of them, it was the only Christmas present they got. About 70 children received our presents. All of them live in the outskirts of Cali and belong to families affected by violence. Many of the children made by hand their own thank you and Christmas cards and sent them to SADCO. Moving expressions of gratefulnes, appreciation, happiness and hope were added to each card by the children. The received cards will be exhibited during the next SADCO meeting on Saturday February 21. SADCO members may feel proud and happy to bring a happy moment for these children in need.
    Hogares Luz y Vida
  • SADCO donated $1,000 to Hogares Luz y Vida, and $500 to Hogar Villa Alegría. These two institutions provide shelter, health care, food, and love to children under conditions of either abandonment, displacement, or illness. SADCO members feel joy and pride to help such institutions. Hogares Luz y Vida has a sign with the following sentence in its banner: "LIFE IS BUILT THROUGH LITTLE DETAILS, LET'S KEEP BUILDING IT". So, let's keep building it.
