 What a great Formula One party!
SADCO celebrated the F-1 US Grand Prix with a great party. Formula One race fans from several parts of the country, even from South America, attended this event. Visitors enjoyed a warm environment full of Vallenato, salsa, merengue, and tropical music. The party was organized by SADCO to raise funds for its educational, social, and cultural programs. Guests had a great time and expressed their desired to hold the party next year. A big delegation from Washington DC is featured on the picture. World Guiness Record holder, Colombian "El Verraco" Obando was also present at the party and is in the front row of the picture. |
SADCO and Marion County Library System brought a story teller to the Hispanic kids of Indianapolis.
Colombian storyteller Neil Isaza (aka "ZIEN") performed in front of dozens of students, most of them Hispanic, in two performances at Indianapolis Marion County Library System branches in the Hawthorne Community Center near the Haughville Library and at School #96, part of the Eagle Library service area. The children enjoyed interactive stories told with grace and enchantment by Zien. This cultural event was sponsored by SADCO and the Indianapolis Marion County Public Library. Big thanks to Kathi L. Kemp-Tejeda, Immigrant Outreach Librarian at Indianapolis-Marion County Public Library, for making this wonderful cultural event happen for our Hispanic children.It is with great sadness that SADCO announces that Kathi's last day on her job at the Public Library will be soon. Kathi will be moving to Wisconsin where her husband has accepted a job. SADCO wishes the best for Kathi and her family in their new endeavors. The Indianapolis Marion County Public Library would like to find and hire someone soon, so that Kathi can help that new person with contacts, programs, future plans, and procedures involved in making this outreach successful. Again, BIG thanks to Kathi for making a real difference in the quality of life for newcomers to our community. |
 Don't miss 2003 Gala!The Gala Dance and Dinner is one of the fund-raising activities of SADCO. It was initially created with the intention of celebrating the Independence of Cartagena as a small gathering of friends in Indianapolis. This celebration became so traditional and attended that it became an elegant gala party of more than 400 people. The party features a dinner and tropical Latin music dance. SADCO in 2003 Fiesta IndianapolisSADCO participated in the 2003 Fiesta Indianapolis Festival, the greatest Hispanic festival of Indiana. As always, SADCO's booth was busy with lots of visitors. A cultural section was added to our traditional booth of Colombian coffee and pastries. Thanks to all SADCO volunteers who donated time, talent, and pastries to sell for your invaluable help.
