It is time to renew your membership to SADCO. If you are not a member yet, this is the opportunity to become a member. SADCO has received a heartwarming, thank-you letter from Mrs. Monica Carranza, director of Fundación Los Carasucias, a shelter for needy people in Argentina. SADCO sent a donation of $200 to the orphanage to aid children Argentina with nutritional deficiency. Martha Spence and her mother, Rosario Serra, SADCO members, personally delivered the donation. The donation included rice, noodles, tomato sauce, oil, milk, sugar, polenta and flour, all staples that Monica stated were needed. Through these little things that make such a huge difference SADCO proudly helps our people.

It is with sadness that SADCO announces that former SADCO member Myriam Forero Rath died August 10, 2003. Myriam was born in Bogota, Colombia, and taught Art and Advertising at the Universidad de Bogota before moving to the U.S. in 1958. A resident of Indianapolis since 1965, Myriam was a member of the Sociedad Amigos de Colombia.
This is a kind message from our Board Member Bertha Torres: "Myriam apart of being a very good friend of our family a person that we met about 32 years ago, was a member of Sadco from its beginnings a great contributor, sharing her artistic talent with the organization. As a matter of fact when Jaime Jaramillo came to Indianapolis to receive the Kiwanis award for helping the children of the street "Los niños de la calle" she made a beautiful drawing that was given to: Dr. Jaramillo and since then that beautiful drawing has been like our motto to help the least fortunate, specially the children."

Another sad news for SADCO members. Casilda Perez, sister of Hector Perez (Board Member of SADCO) passed away on August 4th in Puerto Rico. Our prayers go for Hector & Norma and their family.

• SADCO is the proudly sponsor of Colombian graduate student Carlos Muñoz during his Master studies at the College of Foreign Languages and Arts at IUPUI. Welcome Carlos!

• SADCO is a member of the group of organizations that will hold the 2003 Latino Film Festival in October. The Marion Public Library system is leading this effort to show Latin culture through movies to the general public.
• The Greenleaf Center for Servant-Leadership awarded 14 SADCO members full scholarships for their annual Conference on Servant-Leadership held in Indinapolis. SADCO would like to thank Mr. Larry Spears, President of Greenleaf Center, for this kindness and congratulate him for such a high quality event.
