Esta fiesta, que se ha vuelto famosa en Indianapolis, es uno de los eventos de recolección de fondos más importantes de SADCO durante el año. Se realiza generalmente en noviembre para conmemorar la Independencia de Cartagena de Indias, la cual es en noviembre 11. La fiesta empezó a realizarse a mediados de los 80's como una pequeña reunión de 20-30 personas en la casa de algún miembro de SADCO. Se compartía comida, bebidas, música, y por supuesto, baile. La fiesta empezó a tener más asistentes a medida que SADCO crecía, y fue necesario transladar el evento a algún clubhouse que tuviera una mayor capacidad. Gradualmente esta fiesta empezó a ser más y más reconocida en la comunidad de Indianapolis y el número de asistentes creció hasta pasar las 500 personas. As así como este evento se ha consolidado como una gran fiesta elegante que incluye cena y orquesta en vivo y se realiza en un gran y selecto salón de bailes en Indianapolis.
As in all SADCO’s activities, the aim is to celebrate Hispanic culture and highlight those individuals who have distinguished themselves in this community. In addition SADCO wants to create focal points for the community at large where people come together to interact and learn from each other. The participants are not only Hispanics, many individuals in the greater Indianapolis area look forward to this event each year. The Independence of Cartagena holiday gives a social reason to get together; the event itself helps SADCO to live up to its purpose to contribute to the betterment of the community in which we all live and work. The proceeds of this Gala, combined with those of other SADCO events and contributions from generous individuals and organizations in the city help SADCO to promote education (through its scholarship program) and contribute to local Hispanic charitable and social service organizations.

The Gala Dance and Dinner is one of the fund-raising avents of SADCO. It was initially founded with the intention of celebrating the Independence of Cartagena as a small gathering of friends in Indianapolis. This celebration became so traditional and attended that it became an elegant gala party of more than 400 people. The party features a dinner and tropical Latin music dance.
For year 2006, SADCO has prepared a Sponsorship Packet that will let sponsors and individuals realize about the different ways they can get involved in this event and, most important, help in the development of all SADCO projects.
SADCO, the Friends of Colombia Society (Sociedad Amigos de Colombia), presents its 11th annual Gala Dinner and Dance on November 18th, 2006 from 6:30 p.m. until 1:00 a.m. at Hyatt Hotel, downtown Indianapolis. Attendance expected is 400. This event is one of the several fund-raising events organized by SADCO to develop its social, educational, and cultural projects throughout the year. This year, the celebration will feature a sit-down dinner, tropical music band, and gala dance.
