Colombian Musica Ficta ensamble during concert in Indianapolis To accomplish its cultural mission, SADCO brings the Hispanic community together in socio-cultural events and offers educational presentations to schools and corporations regarding Hispanic culture. SADCO consistently participates with a cultural and educational booth in social events such as Fiesta Indianapolis, Children’s Day at Indianapolis Children’s Museum, and in international festivals at Indianapolis schools. To help expand and educate Latin American culture, SADCO has brought artists and musicians to perform in concerts and educational sessions at sites such as Butler University Clowes Memorial Hall, Indianapolis public schools, and local area festivals. Following are some of the cultural events held by SADCO with the support of our sponsors:

Colombian Música Ficta featured a concert in Indianapolis. (June 10, 2001)

"From Bogota, a New World of baroque ...a generous sample of New World baroque music was presented Monday evening at the Corcoran Gallery. North American audiences are hardly aware of numerous and excellent Latin-American baroque composers... as the group's sparkling performances demonstrated... with rhythmic vitality and a fine sense of color. Vocal music was sung with style and expressive power." - Joseph McLellan, The Washington Post, December 6, 2000
Concert of baroque music by Colombian MUSICA FICTA
Renown Colombian baroque music group Música Ficta was featured in a concert sponsored by the Sociedad Amigos de Colombia, SADCO, in Indianapolis, Indiana, USA. Founded in 1988 in Bogotá, Colombia, the vocal and instrumental ensemble Música Ficta has reached a prestigious reputation in Colombia and abroad as a performer of the New World repertoire between 1550 and 1750, and the Spanish repertoire between 1350 and 1600. Its conscientious musicological work and the creativity of its programs and performances have secured a following. The ensemble has toured Europe three times, the USA and Latin-America on several occasions, performing at major international music festivals such as "Il Canto delle Pietre" (Italy), "Monuments en Musique" and "Le Chant des Chapelles" (France), "Music at Emmanuel" (UK), "Festival Cervantino" (Mexico) and "Festival de Chiquitos" (Bolivia). It has also participated in the concert seasons of the Inter-American Development Bank (Washington DC), the Cleveland Museum of Art (USA), the Corcoran Gallery (Washington DC) and the Banco de la República (Colombia).

The members of Música Ficta are all professional musicians and their educational activity has been centered at the Music Department of Universidad Javeriana in Bogotá, Colombia. As a group and individually, its members have undergone studies with well-known masters in Europe and the USA. Most of them are graduates in early music performance from the Early Music Institute of Indiana University, Bloomington, IN.

For the year 2001 Música Ficta will perform in Singapore, Indonesia, Japan, Hong Kong, Colombia and the USA. It will also release its third CD, with baroque repertoire in Santafé de Bogotá.

"Hagame un tiple maestro. Pero hagame un tiple bueno, que toque y toque bambucos, y cante bambucos viejos, iguales a los que llevo como un tesoro en secreto, todos escritos con llanto en el papel del recuerdo" - Words of famous Colombian song "HAGAME UN TIPLE MAESTRO"; Authors: BERNARDO GUTIERREZ and EVELIO MONCADA (Bambuco).
Tiple concert Colombian maestro Puerta
Tiple Concert by Colombian maestro Puerta.

SADCO brought renown Tiple player M. Puerta to Indianapolis. The concert was held at Madame Walker Theater Center downtown Indianapolis in year 2000. This exceptional concert was full of talent and nostalgia as some of the best musical pieces written for the Tiple were exceptinally played by maestro Puerta. Tiple: This unique 10-string instrument is known as a "Tiple" and is from Colombia. The Colombian tiple is slightly smaller than the guitar, with four courses of metal strings tuned to the same pitches as the four upper strings of the guitar, but with the middle string of the three lowest courses tuned an octave lower.
